This year I'm watching fewer shiny demos and more questions about crew, power, and whether the idea survives a real load-in window.
Five things on our radar for 2026 — practical, not prophetic.
1. LED as architecture, not wallpaper
Walls and scenic pieces that shape the room, with content built for the surface. The bar is higher: if it looks like a stretched slide, guests notice.
2. Hybrid production literacy
Planners who book hybrid now ask about camera count, ISO recording, and who directs the remote mix. "We'll put Zoom on the screen" is no longer a plan.
3. Faster show-calling tools
More teams want shared cue docs and simple show-control links between lighting, video, and audio. Less radio chatter, fewer missed fades.
4. Power and weight realism
Venues are stricter. Quotes that ignore dimmer loads and deck weight get rebuilt on site. Bring the honest plot early.
5. AI-assisted ops — carefully
Transcription, loudness assists, and asset labeling can save crew time. Auto-mixing a live ask still needs a human with taste and a mute button.
